As a practice owner it can become quite easy to take on all of the responsibilities that go with running a practice. You can quickly find yourself shouldering the weight of a burden all your own, but then what about the wife? What about the kids? And what about the friends who you haven’t seen in months? Is it really possible to fully take in the beauty and vitality that this world has to offer while working 70+ hours a week?
Working at Measurable Solutions it is my goal to get our client’s practices booming and get them to the position where they can successfully run their practice from any distance. That means that if your kid has a dance recital, that there is no way an emergency in the practice is going to stop you from getting there.
There are many factors that go into getting a practice running like a well-oiled machine. An indispensable factor in getting your practice operating at full capacity is definitely hiring and training. In my time here at Measurable Solutions I have learned that there are key posts in ANY organization that, when filled and properly trained, will free up huge quantities of time for the owner. This very much applies to private practice owners. The trick to this is as follows:
If you don’t want to shoulder the entire burden of running a practice yourself you will need to know how to find, where to place, and how to train some new shoulders to distribute the weight too.
That is the simplicity of it. Team building is a huge and irreplaceable piece of freeing up some of your time and attention. Many practice owners simply have never learned the basics of hiring, training, and building a productive team.It is inevitable that you are going to have to work hard as a practice owner, but the question is, where does that hard work put you at a year from now? If all of the hard work you are doing lands you still answering phones, and taking insurance information in five years from now, then you might want to reconsider where you are investing some of your efforts.
