Is There Really A Solution To Get A Consistent Abundance Of New Patients?

There comes a point in time in a practice, whether you’re just starting out or have been practicing for years, when you find yourself saying, “We need new patients.” You seem to find yourself up against the same walls as the next practitioner. So what are you doing to bring in new patients on a consistent basis? Doctor’s lunches? Delivering marketing gadgets? Meeting with doctors with the hopes that you’ll get referrals? Does this sound all too familiar?

I’ve been a practicing physical therapist for over 15 years and in private practice for 10 of them and I know what you are going through. As a physical therapist, I have always considered my skills to be excellent; but it wasn’t driving new patients to my door. I needed help.

I had reasons for my difficulties. There were 26 physical therapy practices located within a 3-mile radius, with 14 of them on the same street within those 3 miles. I was also feeling the pressures of managed healthcare; I felt it was getting the best of me. I knew that if I didn’t get tough and learn how to make my practice expand, the practice would consume all of my time and attention.

There were some tools that I didn’t have in my tool kit when I was trying to grow my practice. I learned some basic marketing tools that permitted my practice to expand without having to meet with doctors, because at that time the thought of soliciting the referrals from physicians was terrifying to me. I applied everything I learned and we boomed! In fact, we skyrocketed from there and overall, increased my practice nine-fold.

I sold my practice in February 1998 because I found that once my practice was growing and now on its own, I was sneaking out of the office to help others grow their businesses. The company wanted me to stay in its corporate ranks but I decided against it.

I have spent several years educating myself in a management technology that works; now I share it with others. I am a licensed management consultant, and I have teamed up with Jeff Lee to establish Measurable Solutions, a management training and consulting company for physical therapists in private practice. Jeff has over 20 years experience in consulting healthcare practitioners, including physical therapists.

Our company is called Measurable Solutions for a reason. If you have a problem which becomes solved, what should happen? Expansion of your company! We train you how to grow your practice and measure that expansion! You will know in weeks that you have been helped.

People in private practice, I consider to be a cut above anyone else. It takes a lot of courage to step out on your own. I know, I’ve been there and done it. Sometimes you might wonder whether or not you made the right move. I am sure that you did. There could be some doubt that you have, right at this moment, as to whether your future is very sound; but I am telling you that what we run into with practice after practice, is that if they changed just one little thing it would turn the whole thing around.
